Failed to schedule DTS in SQL 2005

Hello,

I am trying to to schedule DTS Package but this message appear .

Message
The job failed. The Job was invoked by User sa. The last step to run was step 1 (1). and this

Message
Executed as user: Computer name\SYSTEM. The package execution failed. The step failed

so how I can schedule DTS Package in sql 2005 .

Do you have logging enabled for this package? if enabled check the log file it should have more detailed information on the error.

The error you have posted is a very generic error from the job agent, and it does not give any information.

Thanks

Sounds like you might have some issues with the account settings. See the following thread for tips on setting up proxies / credentials / jobs etc.

Thanks, all

But still the same problem even I did all thing to solve but still can't schedule DTS, but when I see th proparites of the

SQL Server Agent-->Connection and found the sql server connection grayed out and can't select or change it . so may be this is the problem but how to run the agent under sa account .

|||

Assuming you are talking about the connection infromation on the left hand side of the job properties screen, that connection information is how you are currently connected to the sql server. You would need to look at the steps tab and click edit on the step associated with the package you are trying to run. At the top of this screen there will be a place for the step name (i.e. run package x), the type (sql server integration services package) and the run as. You would select the correct proxy name from the run as drop down that ties to your sa account...

Thanks very much for you reply but I still can't schedule the DTS even though when I execute the dts it's work fine and I did all thing what said here http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/Schedule__Run__SSIS__DTS.asp

Failed to open a rowset Warning/Error

Hi there

I am working in CR 9.0 and have included subreports in the main report.

Whenever I run the main report and have to give the Login ID & password for the " HiT ODBC / 400 Driver" (DataSource - AS400) I get the following warning/error.

"Failed to open a rowset.
Details: HY000:{HiT][HiT ODBC/400][SQL/400][ODBS Error][SQL0128] Use of NULL is not valid"

If I click the OK button the report is generated.

If I run the same report the second/third time - where I do not have to specify the Login ID & password the error/warning does not occur.

How do I get rid of this warning/error msg.

Failed to notify 'DBA' via email

We have some SQL jobs those run on a schedule basis. These jobs are setup to
notify us via email in case of job fails. However, Some time we get this
error "Failed to notify 'DBA' via email." Initially I thought it may be b/c
of mail server was not available but our exchnage server admin has looked at
exchange logs and not found any thing at that time. I also looked at the SQL
server logs and did not find any issues. My question is: is there any thing
can go wrong in the SQL server that can cause this probelm?
Help is appreciated.
Thanks,
MohMoh,
FWIW - SQL Server MAPI will only wait a certain amount of time to deliver a
message. If it cannot get out, then the mail will 'fail' even though
Exchange is up and running and healthy. It might be Exchange, networking,
domain issues, etc. that cause the problem.
If you Google on "sql mail Failed to notify" you will see a few comments on
this, without any real help that I could find.
(Unless xp_smtp_sendmail would work for you.)

Generally I find if you don't absolutely need to use Exchange, setup a local
SMTP server right on teh SQL box and send email through that directly.
Eliminates timeouts, etc.

I have a couple of questions.
1) When you performed the upgrade from SP3, did you get any errors?
2) Does the file msxmlsql.dll exist in the X:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\80\Shared directory (replace X with whatever drive you installed Sql
Server on)?

Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server??

I use VS2005 & sql2005express to create a website, but it cannot to display data.

When I run it, I got such errors:

Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed.

My web.config file:

<add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf"/>

When I change the User Instance=True to False, it works, but MSDN says it is not safe.

I searched the past threads, which writes "delete the folder C:\Documents and Settings\yy\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Sqlserver Data, it will work".

I try, but failed. What should I do??

have u resolved this error, I'm getting the same?

Failed to decrypt XML node "DTS:Password"

Hi!
I made an SSIS package and it runs fine on my workstation, but it fails when I run it on the SQL Server.
I'm using an ODBC connection and when I run the package, I get the error message:
"Login failed. Check for valid user ID, server name or password".
I tried to load the project in Visual Studio on the Server and got the error message above:
Failed to decrypt XML node "DTS:Password"
How can I set up the permissions for decrypting the password?

Thanks for any help!

The problem is that you have the ProtectionLevel set to "EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey". This means the package can be executed only by the user that created the package and on the machine that it was created. (unless you use a domain account and use machines in the same domain)

If you import the package on your server I recomend to change the ProtectionLevel to "EncryptSensitiveWithPassword" - will ecnrypt sensitive information like passwords - or if you store the package on SqlServer you can use "Rely on server storageand rolse for access control" - this means that the package will be stored unencrypted on the SQL Server.

The package can be stored unencrypted ONLY in the SQL Server.

HTH.
Ovidiu Burlacu

|||Thanks for the explanation!
I tried to use the last option"Rely on server storageand rolse for access control", however it causes a lot of error messages in the Business Intelligence Studio and I can not create a build with a deployment manifest. The help sais, this option is not accessible from Visual Studio, but I can not figure out, how to use it.
Can you tell me, how I can use it?
|||

Are you saving the package on a SQL Server or to a file? You can use ServerStorage ONLY if you save the package on SQL Server

To save a package from BIDS directly to SQL Server use File-> "Save Copy of <package_name>.dtsx As..." and in the dialogs that appears you can specify a SQL Server

If you want to create a deployment manifest encrypt with a passord and when you run the Deployment wizard and specify the destination to be a SQL Server the you can choose the "Rely on server storage and role for access control".

HTH,
Ovidiu

failed to create crystal query engine

Hi,

'Crystal.CRPE.Application' Failed to create the Crystal Query Engine. appears.
The full install has been done and is version 8.5
any help appreciatedOpen the report and do verify database
or try it here

failed to connect to the server

When I have a subscription built for a report it runs at the time expected, but the report send via e-mail fails. I can run the report from a client workstation just fine. I can also run it from the admin tool fine too, it just will not run as part of a subscription. The full context of the error message is as follows:

Failure sending mail: The transport failed to connect to the server

This is not my first Reporting services report, but I am trying to replace all Crystal reports with Reporting services reports and this functionality is greatly needed.

Thanks! - Eric-

The error is telling you the RS server cannot connect to the Mail server. Make sure that the unattended execution account is setup and is a user that has access to the mail server.

Failed Maintenance Plan

Please advice.
I run a SQL2k SP4 on WIN2K SP4.
I have a maintenance plan to backup the databases at 01:30AM. This has alway

Strangely it did the backup at 02:25PM with no entry in SQL Error Log and ca

Please help as to what caused the maintenance plan to backup at 02:25 and wh

Thanks for your kind response.I posted a reply to this yesterday. Here's that text:

Failed Login for a WorkGroup when attempting to run a query

Hi all,
I have an application which works with SQL Server. When the applicationattempts to load a page it needs to run certain queries. When itattempts to run a particular query it fails but I catch the exceptionand then log it. The following is logged:
System.Data.Ole.Db.OleDbException: Login failed for user 'CWAMB01DWH01\ASPENT'.
Now what I don't understand is that this is the work group that ASPNETis run under, and I am running other queries to the database via SQLServer authentication. Why am I getting a failed login for thisworkgroup? Do I need to create a new Login for the Server in SQLServer, and then create a new user for the database with the sameusername as the Workgroup name? If so, then how does the password workfor the SQL Server as the workgroup (CWAMB01DWH01\ASPENT) obviouslydoesn't have a password.
Thanks, and I hope I have explain my problem clear enough.
Tryst
There are two permissions in SQL Server database permissions in the database and server permissions you create under security in Enterprise Manager. Hope this helps.

Failed Job Message

This is a post
I am in desparate need of some help with SQL Server 2000. I recently created several jobs to run at night to update several tables in my SQL Server. I then realized that I could schedule one job with various steps, so I tried to delete the original jobs
with the stored proc. but could not seem to get it to work. While examining the sysjob table in the msdn database I deleted one of the old jobs. This is where the problem started. I have since deleted the job steps out of the sysjobsteps and the sysjo
bschedule as well as systaskids for that same job. I am still getting the error notification each morning that the job failed Unable to retrieve steps for the certain job. Where is this notification coming from? Because there is no jobs or job steps in
any of the tables. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
There is a bit more that goes on in deleting a job than just
deleting rows from these tables. Jobs can be stored in the
job cache so there are also procedures that check the job
cache and update it if necessary - I think it's through
sp_agent_notify if I remember correctly. There could also be
some other references to the jobs in some of the other job
tables. That's why modifying these tables directly isn't
recommended. You could try restarting SQL Agent if you
didn't do so after modifying the tables but I'd guess you
could still have some other dangling references to the job
which may or may not affect things.
You may want to consider restoring your msdb database from
prior to your modifying the job tables and then delete the
jobs using sp_delete_job which is the supported method of
dropping a job. Using sp_delete_job will handle all the
details, update the job cache if necessary, etc.

Fail to run report made with report builder

Hi,

I am completely new to Report Builder. I created and deployed a report model and opened the Report Builder, and created a very simple report by dragging a table into the report. When running the report i get this error:

Keyword not supported: 'provider'.
-
Cannot create a connection to data source 'dataSource1'.
-
An error has occurred during report processing.
The data source name that I used in the report model was not called dataSource1.

Approximately the same error is displayed if I deploy (save) the report to the report server:

An error has occurred during report processing.
Cannot create a connection to data source 'dataSource1'.
Keyword not supported: 'provider'.
The report server itself seems to work fine, because I can deploy reports that are created the old way (ie from within BI Development Studio)

I am using the September CTP.

BR
KaDid you create model using Model Designer?

Fail to run as job but success execute in VS2005

hi all,

please help,

i using Execute DTS 2000 Package Task to create a package.dtsx, and execute successful in VS2005

but when i created it as a job and it fail to run.

the package.dtsx is calling a package2000.dts, which having 2 steps to run.

i execute the job by step, and the i found that the 1st job is running successful but the 2nd job was fail.

may i know where can i found the error log? or any where to debug it?

please help......

thanks 1st.....

Hi Khin,

* Note that configuring log for SSIS will not provide the log for Individual steps run in the Execute DTS 2000 Package task.

* Configure a Separate log for the DTS file enclosed by opening it in DTS designer, right click -> Properties ->Logging -> <Give a file Path to Store this log file >.

Fail to Invoke Job from ASP .NET

Hi,

I have an ASP .NET page which invoke a SQL Agent Job. It works fine in debugging but when I run the web application in deplyment environnment it does not work. The Web Application is configured in Basic Authentication. The error message is not very detailed: "Invoke failed to job XXX".

I tried to add credentials information in my code using:

myServer.ConnectionContext.LoginSecure = false;
myServer.ConnectionContext.Login = "DOMAIN\Login";
myServer.ConnectionContext.Password = "pwd";

or

myServer.ConnectionContext.LoginSecure = false;
myServer.ConnectionContext.ConnectAsUserName = "DOMAIN\Login";
myServer.ConnectionContext.ConnectAsUserPassword = "pwd";

but it does not change anything.

Any help will be appreciated.

When you specify LoginSecure=false you're telling the server to use a SQL login, then you're supplying a domain login. You need to establish a SQL Login with the necessary credentials on the server in this circumstance.|||Hi,

if you want to impersonate the curretn thread with another security token than the actual it is running on (as you told the basic authentication) you will have to create an impersonation context, if you want to use the current security context your can just set the LoginSecure = true.
