VERY frustrating. I have tried uninstalling. removing regietry keys. removing with the windows unistaller etc... to NO avial. See my Core.Log:

Have you had previous versions of SQL 2005 installed on the same computer? Which versions?|||No its a clean install of Windows 2003 Sp1 and its not a DC. Crazy.|||Moving to the setup forum.

Thanks for asking. I decided to wipe the server clean, install 2003 and all the updates. Then try the express install. This time it worked.
